There is lots of lots of information about your new email and other Google tools to be found at http://learn.googleapps.com/
Students will also have Google Apps, and some will also have mail available through Google. To make this work, student user names have been changed. Now their user names are in a different format - two digit graduation year, first initial, last name, with no spaces. So John Doe who graduates in 2013 would be 13jdoe. In cases where there are conflicts and two user names would be the same (think twins with the same first initial), the entire first name and last name are used. So Jane Doe and John Doe who both graduate in 2013 would be 13janedoe and 13johndoe.

-SECURITY UPDATE!
We have had a few accounts hacked. This is bad. Some tips:
1. Do not give out your password.
2. Be suspicious of email links that require your password after clicking on them. It may look like a real google site they take you to, but it could be somewhere else entirely.
3. Every week or two, it's a good idea to check your account to see when and from where it has been logged into. From your google email page, click on the little picture in the upper right corner (it could be your picture or the generic icon person), and then click on "Account". When you get to the account page, click on "Security" in the left column, then on "Recent Activity". It will show you a list of the different times and places of logins to your account. It also includes information on the browser and platform used. If you see suspicious logins, change your password IMMEDIATELY. I've put together a short video here: http://www.bayfield.k12.wi.us/tech/security.mp4
